If you are one of the many people in the world who suffer from acne, you may have been inflicted with pimples on your face and you may have experienced having a lip pimple. A lip pimple is a pimple or acne located on or around your lips. This can also include blackheads or whiteheads which are pustules. There can be many reasons for the manifestation of acne. Acne can be related to high hormones, or an extra production of oil. Most people associate acne with teenagers or preteens but in all actuality, acne and lip pimples can occur to people of all ages, skin types and races.
If you find yourself suffering from a lip pimple there are things you can do at home to help reduce the redness, and soreness.
First you will want to wash your face two or three times a day with a soap that is appropriate for your skin type. If you find that you are getting zits due to having extra oily skin, you will want to find a soap specially made for oily skin such as a glycerin soap.
You may find that using an acne soap can help with your acne as well, and help prevent any future breakouts.
When washing your face, use a washcloth. Avoid harsh pads that will only cause irritation.
Next, use warm water to clean your face, especially around the mouth and the lip pimple rather than cold water which does not cleanse as well or extra hot water which will cause your face to produce more oil.
You may be tempted to squeeze at the pimple on lip or try and get rid of the white head, but this is not advised. Instead, try putting a warm washcloth on it and applying pressure. This will help to reduce the size of the lip pimple and reduce the redness as well.
You will also want to avoid touching the lip pimple or any other acne you have on your face. Your fingers and hands contain hidden dirt and oils that will only spread to your acne making it worse.
You may be tempted to try and put concealer on your lip pimple to try and hide it, but this also adds extra oil and may cause it to get worse. It is always a good idea to just avoid putting make up on your zits, especially if they have recently broken.
There are steps you can take to avoid getting a future lip pimple or other acne. As mentioned above, wash your face two or three times a day or more if you workout or have been sweating out in the sun. You can also avoid certain cosmetics and sunblocks and switch to oil free brands that will be less likely to cause acne.
If you have tried these methods and still have no results, you may need to try some over the counter acne medication. For extreme cases, you should contact your doctor or dermatologist. Once you have taken these steps, you are on your way to getting rid of your lip pimple and other acne problems!
